Posted by Ireene | 9:10 PM | Finnish people in the United States | 0 comments »I was four 4 years old, my brothers 5 and 3, when my mom and dad packed up and shipped out of Finland. Father was coming to America on scholarship, to study engineering at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in Boston.
The ship we boarded was the SAS (Swedish American Line) Gripsholm, bound for New York. The year was 1945 - just after World War Two.
